Patron Information

The health and safety of our audiences and artists are of the utmost importance to us.
Our Reopening Plan follows the guidance of State of Michigan officials, MIOSHA, OSHA, and the CDC for workplace and performance venue safety.

What we’re doing for your safety

  • Cleaning and sanitizing protocol have been enhanced.
Prior to each performance the entire facility will be cleaned with an
electrostatic sprayer that applies a CDC-approved disinfectant that will
    kill COVID-19.
  • Air quality has been upgraded. A new air
handling and air purification system has been installed
with state of the art virus-killing technology.
  • Additional cleaning will be done during shows on frequently
touched surfaces throughout the venue and restroom facilities.
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be available in multiple locations.
  • Seating has been configured to ensure physical distancing.
Groups may be separated and seated in pairs or as singles to
ensure availability of seats at a safe distance for all patrons.

How you can help

  • Assess your health. Patrons are asked to stay home if they are exhibiting any signs of illness prior to arriving for a performance. If you are unable to attend due to illness, call the Ticket Center at 810.237.7333. You will be able to exchange your ticket for a later date or receive an account credit or refund.
  • Temperature checks and health self-assessment may be required when you arrive.
  • Masks are required until we are post-pandemic and in phase 6 of the State of Michigan Safe Start reopening plan.
  • Check our website before your arrival. Important details about entering the venue will be available prior to each production. The most up-to-date information that pertains to the Governor’s executive orders and the most recent public health guidance will be posted at

We look forward to welcoming you back to the theatre for a safe, creative and exciting experience!

It is the policy of the Flint Institute of Music's (FIM) that for the safety of its staff and patrons, masks are required to be worn when entering a building for business or for sponsored or managed events and performances (Includes Flint Symphony Orchestra, Flint School of Performing Arts, Flint Repertory Theatre, MacArthur Recital Hall, Whiting Auditorium, Capitol Theatre). However, attendance may increase your risk of contracting an illness such as COVID-19. As such, your attendance is an acknowledgment of that risk and an agreement to release FIM of any liability should you or anyone in your party be diagnosed with an illness. Please remember that masks are a legal requirement and must be worn. Please do not attend the event should you be or have recently been sick.
