WELCOME TO THE 2020-2021 SEASON OF EDUCATION COURSES AT FLINT REPERTORY THEATRE.

The whole Education Department is as excited as ever to get back into the act with engaging, energetic and transformative theatre offerings. You will notice that we have some new offerings this season. For our younger actors we will have courses that include ACTventures, where our 4-6 year old actors will go on different theatre adventures each week and explore and discover different stories. We will also be offering Tale Switchers for young actors in grades 1-2, in which they will turn well know stories upside down and inside out to create truly original versions. For our older theatre students, our classes for students in grades 7-12 will be more progressive in nature, where each term is focused on a different tactic or form of theatre for actors to understand and immerse themselves in, including Scene Work, Comedic and Dramatic Improvisation, Voice and Movement, and many, many more. And we will have performance opportunities for actors and technicians in grades 6-12 through our Flint Youth Theatre Seasonal Shorts productions. During these productions, students will have the opportunity to audition, write, act and even direct short productions for friends, family and the community to watch and enjoy. So as you can see, we have a lot of exciting things happening at The Rep where you can explore your passion for theatre and your creativity. So whether you have taken a class with us before or you are starting your theatrical adventure with us for the first time, we are looking forward to seeing you grow, develop and create as you join us in GETTING INTO THE ACT!

Philosophy & Benefits

We are committed to working with actors to develop their creativity in performance and enhance their understanding of the world around them through the dynamic lens of the performing arts. We are devoted to providing challenging classes year-round in a welcoming, nurturing and non-judgmental environment. The faculty is composed of experienced creative drama educators and professional theatre artists. With small classes and personal coaching, the faculty takes great pride in cultivating a creative atmosphere while teaching practical skills for performing on stage. Our classes will teach a student how to craft an effective performance on stage before an audience.
