JANET HALEY (The Mute) is  Associate Professor of Theatre at The University of Michigan-Flint, specializing in physical approaches to actor training, directing, and ensemble theatre-making. She holds an MFA from The University of Texas at Austin, is an active member of Actors' Equity Association, an Associate Artist with Flint Rep, and a proud native of Flint, MI. Janet was last seen onstage here as Winnie in Happy Days in October 2021. Other Flint Rep credits include: Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Beatrice in The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (receiving "Best Actress in a Drama" Wilde Awards for both productions),  Amanda Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, and The White Witch in Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.  Janet is Artistic Associate with Michigan Shakespeare Festival, and for 14 seasons has played over 35 roles that run the spectrum of maids, mothers, madwomen, and magicians; and she received a Wilde Award for her portrayal of "Jaques" in MSF's 2016 production of As You Like It.  Janet has also performed with Williamston Theatre, Nicely Theatre Co, Seattle Public Theatre, Book-It Rep in Seattle, Harlequin in Olympia WA, Idaho Repertory Theatre, Idaho Theatre for Youth, Boise Contemporary Theatre, Performance Network, and Cornerstone Theater in Los Angeles. Professionally, she’s directed several productions, including The Jungle Book and The Adventures of Huck Finn (both Wilde Award Nominees for Best TYA), and 9x Nourished at the Flint Farmers' Market (script by Michael Rohd).  Janet has trained in Viewpoints and Suzuki practices with SITI Company of NYC continuously for the past 16 years, as well as Pacific Performance Project/east, and Peter Kyle Dance of NYC.  Janet is grateful for the opportunity to share the stage with Ben Cherry, as they did here many ago as young actors in Flint Youth Theatre productions.
